I am Muko Vunda, Game Designer and Computer Science graduate from France. I design, code, write and test content for video games during their development. With my specialization in writing, I aim to bring heart and polish to every project I work on.
Outside of my computer activities, I engage in various activities and experiences, mostly depending on my current location. But my recurring pastimes involve learning new skills like cooking or discovering new cultural sensations (popular movies and games).
Here’s the story :
I used to be a simple software and web programmer during my studies, and while I enjoy coding to this day, I was entranced by the idea of writing content for my favorite medium: video games. It was clear to my past managers that I had a lot of potential in this field, as my code and reports were carefully written with lots of details (and easter eggs).
So, I went on to study Game Design and hone my writing skills.
Now, I work as an experienced Game Developer and bring my skills to my assigned role with great success. And I look forward to helping new game projects get the love and attention they deserve, so that they can shine among the greatest games of our generation.
Making games with heart…
Game development is not an easy process, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed and lose focus of what the team is making. Luckily, I have a few work principles to help alleviate that.
- Communication at every level to bust out misunderstandings
- Organized documentation to give quick, easy access to specific info
- And frequent reporting to reflect on what has been done and to help deciding on how to move forward
A game designer can shape the rules of the game but may lose sight of the technical constraints.
A programmer can bring game ideas to life without getting or questioning their role in the whole design.
Thanks to my background in both fields, I look at the bigger picture and come up with the most efficient solution for (almost) any challenge.
…To touch the players’ hearts !
Thorough my game dev career, I focused on the player’s experience and how they approached each key moment of the game. What would be their state of mind? How to convey specific feelings and emotions? What kind of stories can be told with the game mechanics?
With these questions in mind, I wondered if I could use my skills to turn game experiences into unforgettable memories.
In spite of my technical background, I tried my hand in Narrative Design in my personal projects by writing scripts and lines of dialogue. After discovering a passion for writing, I studied Narrative Design and Dramaturgy in my free time.
I aim to evolve my career into writing stories for games, using my creative mind and my technical knowledge to create poignant story pieces for players to enjoy.
